Have you heard that mammograms cause breast cancer?
I read in a medical journal today that the compression used to do a mammogram actually causes breast cancer. Any tiny cysts that you may have will burst due to the compression and then the cancer will mulitply. Think about how many women got breast cancer after they had their first mammogram??..

absolutely not! mammograms are so important and you should get them once a year after you turn 40. so many lives are saved by early detection. women don?t get breast cancer after their mammogram they discover the lumps! early detection is so important! you have your facts way wrong!!!

any radiation exposure involves some risk of causing cancer.
The amount of radiation used to do an x-ray is fairly small? about equal to a couple of days worth of sunlight. So the risk is very small? but just as sunlight CAN cause skin cancer? any x-ray can cause cancer.
The real reason that women tend to get cancer after their first mammogram, rather than before it is? you are more likely to get breast cancer as you get older. So.. since you will get older after your first mammogram? your odds of getting breast cancer afterword are higher than before you have had one.

Women did not get breast cancer after their first mammo?it was found with their first mammo. I am a nurse and have never heard of this. It is important to get mammos and do self breast exams to detect early cancers.

I?ve had guys handle my breasts more roughly than the mammogram machine?I question whatever it was you may or may not have read about this?

For Today?s Random Fact from my Micro Blog: The Renaissance Festival was *totally* deserted because of the second-straight day of rain and cold temps today. We went and it was FANTASTIC!! The girls spent an entire hour alone with Twig the Fairy looking through Twig?s treasure chest together. I couldn?t even take photos because it was *too* intimate. Does that make sense? It would have felt very intrusive of their special time together.
