Rugby Canada has announced express mail services DHL as the presenting sponsor Canada's 2011 Rugby World Cup warm-up match against the USA.

Already the official logistics partner of the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, DHL has expanded its support of rugby by sponsoring the first match in a series of international Test matches between the USA and Canada.

The first match will take place on 6th August at BMO Field in Toronto whilst the final game is scheduled for 13th August in Colorado.

Financial terms of DHL's sponsorship were not released.

"This event can be a watershed moment for Canadian rugby," said Nick Taylor, director of commercial operations for Rugby Canada. "We have never before been in a position to deliver a game to our fans and our partners to the level that we will on August 6th. None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our many sponsors. DHL, as an official sponsor of the 2011 Rugby World Cup ? brings our event to a new level in commercial activity. We are thrilled to partner with this great company and raise the bar on the kind of event we can deliver to Canadian rugby and sports fans."

Greg Hewitt, president of DHL Express Canada added, "As official logistics partner, DHL Global will be responsible for all ticket distribution, team freight transportation, and the delivery of express and postal shipments on behalf of RWCL and the IRB during the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand. As a key market for DHL globally, DHL Express Canada is thrilled to be in the position to participate in the 2011 Rugby World Cup partnership locally, and to deliver rugby to the fans here in Canada. Supporting our national team by becoming the presenting sponsor of Canada's key international match against notorious rivals, the United States is very exciting."

In other rugby news, wine company Grupo Codorniu, via its Vi?a Pomal brand, will become the official wine sponsor of the JP Morgan Premiership 7s Series rugby tournament.

Under terms of the agreement the wine brand will have perimeter advertising at each of the tournament's four competition venues, the first of which will be Bath Rugby's Recreation Ground on 15th July.
